New Camaldoli Hermitage is a Camaldolese Benedictine monastery perched on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur, California. Founded in 1958, the hermitage combines the community life of a monastery with the solitude of a hermitage. The monks offer retreats in Christian contemplative practice. The setting is strikingly beautiful, overlooking the coast from 1,300 feet elevation.
